動詞替換：
提高：promote: 促進ac之間的**promote the trade between a and c; he was promoted to senior manager in this company.
advance: our understanding of human genetics has considerably(非常的，可換做vastly) advanced.
enhance: the publicity has enhanced his reputation.這次宣傳提高了他的名望
改變：transform:多指改頭換面，完全改變，不能用於形容slight change。說到人口變化：
the increasing population has transformed the landscape and structure of local industry structure.人口劇增改變了小鎮的景色以及當地的工業結構
強調：highlight：the report highlight the decline in the numbers of native(可以換作local) plants and insects.
stress: he stresses the need for parents to listen to their children.
accentuate: the crisis accentuates the gap between rich and poor.
(highlight and emphasize 的區別：highlight是告訴人們重點，因而能夠讓別人注意，類似於老師勾重點；而emphasize則是使重點清晰，不管別人是否能注意得到。而stress則和emphasize差不多)
培養：cultivate: cultivate the ability of … ；培養情操；cultivate a more relaxed and positive way towards life.
nurture: 養育，同樣可以指培養人才（talents）the sea nutures ample marine animals.
破壞：impair：impair ability; 主要是破壞能力，莫亂用。
undermine這個詞也是指的是抽象意義上的破壞，有逐漸削弱之意，重點是循序漸進的過程。undermine one』s ability/confidence/authority/position/credibility
jeopardize: 不能亂用，破壞的東西要上一定的等級才能配上此詞。比如jeopardize the process of peace.破壞和平程序
devastate特指毀滅、蹂躪 the earthquake devastated the whole city.
儲存preserve、conserve 保護資源用的就是這個詞，不要用protect，protect這個詞用在保護具體的東西。
with解決
tackle: tackle the problem.
resolve: resolve dispute爭論/conflict衝突/problem/issue/crisis危機；來自拉丁語，比較正式。
需要require：*** requires courage and confidence.
necessitate: 用法不簡單，沒有摸透。
call for（這也是個很高階的用法，歐巴馬就用這個【我不曉得歐巴馬咋個用的，原帖是這樣說的，並且call for也挺正式的】）：跟need一樣的用法
形容詞替換：
普遍的widespread: 隨便用
prevalent：drug abuse is especially prevalent among teenagers.
overflow：氾濫 the garden is overflew with colors of flowers.
rampant: 特指有害的東西氾濫，比如疾病，犯罪等，並且難於控制。h1n1 virus is rampant in the world.甲流世界氾濫

beneficial（反義詞：detrimental）the drug is beneficial to the immune system.
advantageous: 特指有益的。advantageous industry：優勢產業

lousy (i』m fed up with the lousy job.)
severe (severe problem, illness, injuries.)
abysmal(低谷：their performance is abysmal.)
detrimental: smoking is detrimental to your health.
baneful: 現階段用不到，文學作品裡面的「**」，完全詰屈聱牙。
富有的wealthy、affluent、ample
there are a myriad of stars in the milky way. (銀河系好多星星啊！！)
貧窮的impoverished（動詞表示使貧窮： the great depression had impoverished many third world countries.）an impoverished student.
嚴重的severe
明顯的manifest: a manifest error judge明顯判斷失誤; adv. manifestly . a manifestly unfair system.
apparent、evident
patent: patent impossibilities. 顯然不可能的事。
便宜的economical：經濟的，不浪費，而不是單純指某物便宜。經濟適用房：economically affordable housing。
inexpensive=cheap
reasonable：**合理的。reasonable price
affordable：能夠支付的。
名詞替換：
祖先ancestor、predecessor
不同gap（簡單但是牛）溝，generation gap——very common use in cet-4/6
distinction: sharp/clear distinction between allergy and food intolerance (tbbt裡面的howard就有lactose intolerance，一吃peanuts就會腫，長蕁麻疹rash哈哈。)
再想牛就用schism。比如「填平兩個分支學科之間的分歧」heal the schism between clinical medicine and public health.(有本書就叫這個。
)犯罪delinquency：一般crime都用不到。指道德敗壞，違法行為，為顯示詞彙量可以與crime連用
criminal act：犯罪行為
環境circumstance：under the circumstances. 相當抽象的詞，「情況」。
surrounding：表示周圍居住的環境，想當具體。nearby可與之互換。the surrounding area.
atmosphere、ambience：這兩個詞可替換，但是當atmosphere表示大氣層的意思的時候則不能。
汙染contamination: 我覺得太裝b了，他的pp還不錯：contaminated water—特指被汙染的水
人類individual/men/ones/以及一切表示工人，農民公務員等等的詞
the human race
humankind
humanity：特別指出，用來表示人性。其他一概不要用。雖然也有人之類的意思。
危險hazard：化學、物理危害；隱患：polluted water is a hazard to wild life and nature；safety/nature hazard.
