1．複習第12～21課部分語法
在第12～21課的語法中，我們學習了一般將來時、將來進行時、過去完成時、間接引語、條件句、情態動詞、完全動詞h**e、動名詞等內容。
i had a letter from him last month. he told me he had returned home.
我上個月收到他的一封信。他告訴我他已經回家了。（完全動詞h**e在這裡相當於 receive；過去完成時表示在過去某個時間前完成的動作）
he left the room without taking his umbrella.
他沒有拿上自己的傘就離開了房間。（動名詞作介詞賓語；動名詞有自己的賓語）
2．there is和 it is的用法
在說明或詢問人或物等的存在時即可用 there be結構。這種結構可以用一般現在時，也可以用一般過去時、一般將來時及現在完成時等時態。在用there表示過存在之後，就必須用it或者人稱代詞作進一步說明：
there's a bus coming, but it's full.
有一輛公共汽車來了，不過車上坐滿了人。
there's a man at the door. it's the postman.
門口有個人，那是郵遞員。
there were many people at the party last night.
昨天晚上的晚會上有許多人。（一般過去時）
there will be a letter for you tomorrow.
你明天將會有一封信。（一般將來時）
但是，當it作為「虛主語」表示時間、距離、天氣等概念時，不可用there be結構（cf. 第2課課文詳註）：
it's monday.
是星期一。
it's raining.
天在下雨。
it's fifteen miles to the station.
離車站有15英里。
詞彙學習 word study
1．complete
（1）vt. 完成，結束：
the house was completed five months ago.
這棟房子是5個月以前竣工的。
work on the new school will be completed next year.
新學校明年能竣工。
（2）adj. 完整的，全部的：
do you know the complete story?
你知道整個故事嗎？
this is a complete family.
這是個父母雙全的家庭。
（3）adj. 十足的，徹底的，絕對的：
there is complete silence in the room.
房間裡一點兒聲音也沒有。
that was a complete surprise.
那完全是件意外的事。
2．strange adj.
（1）外地的，異鄉的：
living in a strange land is not always a pleasant thing.
客居他鄉並不總是一件令人愉快的事。
（2）陌生的，生疏的：
that morning, he saw a strange face in the classroom.
那天早上，他在教室裡看到了一張陌生的面孔。
this city is quite strange to me.
我對這座城市很不熟悉。
（3）不平常的，奇特的，奇怪的，古怪的：
the house looks strange to some people.
這房子在有些人看來很古怪。
a strange thing happened this afternoon.
這天下午發生了一件奇怪的事。
