本實訓是《計算機網路技術》（《計算機網路技術基礎》）課程教學的實踐性環節，其主要任務是通過讓學生自己動手配置二層交換機、三層交換機和路由器等網路裝置，培養規劃、設計及組建某個部門區域網路，並使區域網的效能達到最優，安全穩定的能力。同時，為下一步的《綜合佈線系統》、《組網技術與綜合佈線》學習奠定實踐基礎。
配備有cisco
二、三層交換機和路由器的網路實驗機房。
在裝置不足的情況下，可以使用cisco packet tracer 5.3軟體進行相關模擬實驗。
如上圖所示，使用一台計算機t1作為終端，用其rs-232串列埠與交換機console口連線，用於配置交換機的名稱和埠設定，檢視交換機的版本以及執行資訊。
使用計算機pc1、pc2和pc3，用直通線連線該計算機的rj45埠，與交換機的0/1、0/3和0/5埠連線，以驗證相關基本配置。
在t1開啟遠端終端，啟動交換機，進入交換機命令列配置狀態，掌握狀態之間的切換。
