英語教學。本文題目：如何正確使用副詞even及其構成的短語。
當問到英語中副詞even該如何使用時，同學們會異口同聲地說，副詞主要用來修飾動詞、形容詞，放在be動詞、助動詞之後，實意動詞之前。事實上，這只是其一。中學英語課本中除了副詞的基本用法以外，還有許多我們應該掌握的特殊用法。
如果再問及even構成的短語及其用法，恐怕答得上來的就更少了。even構成的短語包括even if, even though, even when, even so, even worse, even now, even then, even as等。下面筆者針對如何正確使用副詞even及其構成的短語進行解析，並列舉一些例項加以說明，旨在幫助大家理解和掌握有關副詞even及其構成短語的用法。
一、正確使用副詞even
1.使用含有even的句子使句子表達的語氣更強。例如：
he loses everything. he even lost his own wedding ring!他失去了一切。他甚至失去了自己的結婚戒指!
john has amnesia, and he can't remember anything about the past. he can't even remember his own name! 約翰有健忘症，他不記得任何關於過去的事情。
他甚至不記得自己的名字!
he could become anything. he could even become president of the united states! 他可能成為乙個了不起的人。
他甚至可能成為美國**！
2.如同much（……得多），far（遠遠）， a lot（……得多），still(甚至)等， 副詞even修飾比較級，加強比較的程度，「更加，甚至」之意。例如：
this story is even more interesting than that one.這個故事比那個更有趣。
i made even more mistakes than you.我犯的錯誤比你多多了。
this time he did it even better.這次他做得還要好。
3.副詞even在一定的語境中隱含著比較的意義，也可理解為隱含著引申的意義。例如：
she didn't even see me. 隱含的意義：in love, she doesn't love me.
it is hot even in winter. 隱含的意義：it must h**e been very hot in summer.
even a child can understand it. 隱含的意義：adults must h**e understood it.
will you even be there? 隱含的意義：i'm afraid you not only won't participate, you won't show up at all.
can't you even be polite? 隱含的意義：if you can't be/act how i want, can you at least be polite?.
4. 副詞even表示「甚至；連……都……」之意時，其位置應靠近所強調的詞或片語。在句中位置不同，句意就不同，位置放錯將會影響整個句子的意思。
1）even在句中的位置比較靈活，應置於它所強調的詞語或短語前面。試比較:
even he helped me. 甚至他都幫我。(強調主語he)
he even helped me. 他甚至幫助我。(強調謂語helped)
he helped even me. 他連我都幫助。(強調賓語me)
2）even在句中的位置不同，語境就不同，全句的意思或重點也就有所不同。例如：
（1）even she forgot my birthday.
（2）she even forgot my birthday.
（3）she forgot even my birthday.
第一句even修飾主語she，意思是，很多人忘記了我的生日，甚至連她都忘了我的生日，表示驚奇。第二句even修飾動詞短語forgot my birthday，意思是，她做了好多不同的事，包括忘了我的生日。第三句even修飾賓語 my birthday，意思是，她忘記了好多不一定與我有關的其他事，甚至忘了我的生日。
3）係表結構中的even應置於系動詞之後表語形容詞之前，位置不能放錯。即：be+ even+ adj.例如：
he is rude to everybody. he is even rude to the police.不能是:
he even is rude to the police.
he's even a tenured professor! 不能是：he even is a tenured professor!
i can't even be bothered to reply.不能是：i even can't be bothered to reply.
5. even單獨使用時，不能用作連詞來連線讓步狀語從句。只有even if/even though可以引導讓步狀語從句。例如：
錯誤句子：
even i clean and polish it, it still won't look new.
even i've cleaned it and polished it, it still doesn't look new.
正確句子：
even if i clean and polish it, it still won』t look new. 即使我清洗和拋光它，它仍然會看起來不新。
even though i've cleaned it and polished it, it still doesn't look new. 儘管我把它清洗和拋光了，但它仍然看起來不新。
6. even與still在上下文的邏輯關係中起著「篇章紐帶」作用。它們擁有共同的用法。
1）兩者都可構成短語even less和still less，意為"更不用說"。例如:
we fear no death, still less difficulties.我們死都不怕，更不用說困難了。
mr. brown knows little of english, and even less of french.布朗先生幾乎不懂英語，更不用說法語了。
2）兩者均可用在比較級前，加強語氣，意為「更加；甚至還要……」等。例如:
a still brighter future for our motherland lies ahead. 祖國更加美好的未來呈現在我們面前。
he studies even harder than ever before. 他學習比以前更加努力了。
二、正確使用與even構成的短語
worse（更糟的是）的同義表達是：worse still/ what's worse。在句中作插入語。例如：
i woke up late this morning because the alarm clock did not work. worse still/even worse/ what』s worse, there was a traffic accident in my neighborhood. i was late for two hours.
今天早上，我醒得晚，因為鬧鐘沒響。更糟的是，我家附近發生了一起交通事故。因此遲到了兩個小時。
