第一步：複習
1.學生自由對話。

2.學生用以下問題猜謎語。

how wide is it?
第二步：呈現
1.引出「can you…？」
there is an object. it』s round. it』s black and white. can you guess what it is?
2.師生問答。

3.教師可做各種動作,引導學生說。

i can sing.
…4.提出問題：

第三步：鞏固
1.放1a錄音,學生跟讀,核對1b答案。
2.雙人活動。學生兩人一組,說出或寫出自己在聚會上能做什麼和不能做什麼,雙方交換檢查。

第四步：練習
1.分組活動。將學生分為若干小組,進行比賽。
一組說i can…。另一組說i can』t …。教師把學生所用的動詞分別寫在黑板上,動詞不得重複,所用動詞多的一方取勝。
可多進行幾次,也可由學生自己將動詞寫在黑板上。
2.學生兩人一組練習3。
3.學生獨立完成4,教師核對答案。

第五步：綜合**活動
1.小組活動。對同學們進行調查,完成5的**。
2.學生製作海報,列出自己能做和不能做的事。

2.提出問題：what else can the parrot do?
3.聽錄音1a,學生找出答案,教師核對答案。
4.再聽一遍錄音1a並跟讀。
5.教師引導學生說話。

第三步：鞏固
1.學生獨立完成1b,教師核對答案。
2.提出任務,兩人一組,假設你有乙隻小貓、小狗或乙隻小鳥,告訴你的搭擋他/她會做什麼,不會做什麼。如：
i h**e a little dog. he can swim. he can』t climb the tree.
3.小組活動：
a: can your dog/cat…?
b: yes,he/she can.
no,he/she can』t.
第四步：練習
1.由3引導學生說出he can…, but he can』t….
2.遊戲：課前準備幾張寫有豬、雞、青蛙等的紙片和面具,紙片扣放在講台上,面具放在一邊。
兩人一組,一人手持面具,另乙個翻看桌上的紙片,然後說：i can… ,but i can』t …手持面具者根據他的解說,判斷出是哪一種動物後,戴上面具說：he/she is a …he/she can…but he/she can』t…面具與紙片上所寫的動物對上的獲勝,由時間長短定,可尋找幾組進行練習。
3.學生兩人一組練習3。
4.小組活動,完成4。
第五步：綜合**活動
布置作業：學生5人一組,每人向大家描述自己的能與不能。如：
a:i can swim, but i can』t sing.
b:i can play the guitar, but i can』t play football.
c:i can run, but i can』t…
d:...
四人說完後,第五位同學向大家重複一句剛才的句子,讓大家判斷正誤。

第三步：鞏固
1.學生獨立完成2。
2.學生合上書本,教師展出**。學生描述課本2,練習過程中教師可用關鍵詞給學生提供適當的幫助。
3.雙人練習示範。乙個學生說：
i can swim now.另乙個學生說：you couldn』t swim two years ago.
如此反覆練習幾次或找幾組學生到講台前,乙個學生說：i can play basketball now.另乙個學生說：
but you couldn』t play basketball three years ago.
第四步：練習
1.教師在黑板上畫如下**（內容可由學生自己填寫）。
引導學生說出如下句子：
i can swim now. but i couldn』t swim when i was four.
i can dance now. but i couldn』t dance two years ago.
2.學生獨立完成3,教師核對答案。
