同義句轉換的實質就是替代、合併和改寫句子。具體分析如下：
一、替代
1、 用乙個新的詞、短語替代原句中有關部分。
如：① i received a letter from lucy .
= i heard from lucy .
(receive a letter from → hear from )
② i often walk to school every day .
= i often go to school on foot .
(walk → go on foot )
go on foot中的go是不是及物動詞，on foot是狀語：
on foot adv.走路
不要和go on弄混了：
go on v.繼續下去, 過去, 發生, 依靠, 接近, 進行, 依據
建議大家再聽一聽《my heart will go on》。
③ she decided to stop learning english .
= she decided to give up english .
(stop doing sth. → give up doing sth. )
2、 用反義詞來替代。如：
3、 ④ we are in different rows .
= we aren』t in the same row .
(different → same )
4、⑤my bike is cheaper than yours .
= your bike is more expensive than mine .
( cheap → expensive )
用反義詞或反義短語來替換時，一般會有乙個否定意義的詞，如 not , less , no , never , hardly 等。
二、合併句子
合併句子一般是通過並列連詞將兩個簡單句合併為一句。常見的並列連詞有：
not only ... but also不但...而且
both … and… , 「某某」和「某某」， 後主要接名詞代詞，一般不接修飾性的詞
neither… nor… 既不...也不...
either… or…不是...就是..., ...或...等。
請注意neither和either的區別，我們可以把後面的-ther忽略（因為在mother, father, brother, other, another, weather, leather, feather, heather中，我們早就「背」過了！）
例如：⑥ mary didn』t go to the park . i didn』t , either .
= neither mary nor i went to the park .
提示：either位於句尾，相當於too，表「也～」，只是too用於肯定句，either用於否定句。記得新概念一上有相關的內容，我手頭現在沒有新概念一教材，請各位自己再查詢一下。
⑦wei hua may go to the cinema,or ann may because there is only one ticket.
= either wei hua or ann may go to the cinema because there is only one ticket.
⑧ john has got a pen friend . mike has got a pen friend , too .
= not only john but also mike has got a pen friend .
= both john and mike h**e got pen friends .
這裡的got是get的過去分詞。
got[^ct]get 的過去式及過去分詞
get還有乙個過去分詞：
gotten[5^ctn]的過去分詞（got+t+en）
